The great Luciano Pavorotti.
Luciano Pavarotti did something incredible in the 1990s - he made opera music popular and accessible to millions of people.
It was estimated that 'The Three Tenors' concert to celebrate the 1990 World Cup in Italy, was seen by an audience of 1.5 billion!
Nessum Dorma  was the theme tune for many football fans during the competition, especially in the UK where the BBC used it for their television coverage. It subsequently became his signature tune and was a huge hit all over the world. To many, he was the face....and sound....of opera music and opened up this wonderful music to a whole new generation of music lovers. He will be sadly missed by his millions of fans.
